Zaha Hadid / Chanel Mobil Art Pavillion

Designed for Chanel the pavilion has been traveling  from Hong Kong, over Tokyo, to New York’s Central Park. It’s final stop is at L’Institut du Monde Arab in Paris, where, next to the famous Jean Nouvel facade in the courtyard, the pavilion will be the spot for the new Arab contemporary art.
The pavilion is created as an homage to the to Chanel’s classic handbag.
Materials for the pavilion include: a façade constructed from fiber re-inforced plastic, the roof PVC, ETFE roof lights, the primary structure was created from 74t steel and has over 1752 different steel connections, and the secondary structure consists of aluminum extrusions.
